Sarah Feddersen, DPM, AACFAS

I was born and raised not too far from Chico in Browns Valley, California.  I attended Marysville High School and was a three-sport athlete participating in cross country, track, and basketball.  It was an ingrown toenail during a cross-country season that introduced me to the world of podiatry.  I then attended Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego where I continued my athletic career on the cross country and track team competing in both the 5K and the 3000-meter steeplechase.  I then graduated cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science.

After completing my undergraduate degree, I obtained my doctorate from the California School of Podiatric Medicine at Samuel Merritt University in Oakland, California.  I then completed a three-year foot and ankle surgical residency in San Francisco at St. Mary’s Medical Center.  There I had the privilege of training in all facets of foot and ankle surgery including reconstruction, trauma, ankle arthroscopy, and total ankle replacement as well as rotations in plastic surgery, orthopedics, trauma, and internal medicine.  This experience afforded me the ability to become not only a podiatrist but a well-rounded practitioner that is able to understand all aspects of a patient’s medical history and how that may contribute to their foot and ankle problems.

When I’m not seeing patients, I love running both recreationally and competitively in half marathons and have participated in the Chico Run for Food 9 years out of the last 10.  I also enjoy many other outdoor activities with my friends and family including skiing, surfing, paddle boarding, and backpacking.  It is these passions that help me relate to my patients and their goals for pain-free movement and activity ranging from the competitive athlete to the weekend warrior.
